James Barber is an Architect based in London, UK and Bergen, Norway.
An enduring interest of his is the study of vernacular buildings / techniques and the potential in their present-day reinterpretations - Borrowing from the traditional, not as a form of homage/pastiche, but rather in recognition of the silent knowledge of how these buildings are adapted to local climate, materials & culture.
- A pursuit of architecture that is contemporary, whilst being firmly rooted in its natural, historical and social context.
James Barber is a member of the
Association of Norwegian Architects / MNAL
